The OSI has over 100 years of history starting from a pure butchery and meat market shop in Chicago and initiated by an immigrant Otto Kolschowsky in 1909. The growth of OSI group started in 1955 when it was known as Otto and Sons, and it became the leading supplier of hamburgers to McDonald’s. In 1973 it opened its first manufacturing facility dedicated to servicing the needs of McDonald’s and Mr. Lavin was the steering head of the company expansion and he later became the partner of the company moving the company to rebrand its name to the famous OSI Group.

In the 1980s the company expanded to Spain, Germany, Austria, and Taiwan and also opened two more manufacturing facilities in America. In the 1990s under the unique and well-calculated moves of Sheldon Lavin, it began other facilities in China, Mexico, Philippines, and Poland and also continued increasing its products and expanding its facilities in America. The new millennium arrived with further expansion plans by Sheldon Lavin, and he steered OSI group to open several poultry operations in different continents.

In 2001 OSI group made its first acquisition in China developing the biggest facility of poultry production globally that uses the latest technology and have high tech amenities. It also expanded to Australia acquiring a company and expanding its beef production portfolio and it later purchased more production plants in Japan, India, and Canada.

They uses calculated moves to expand to different countries and acquires plants that blend with their agenda and core value of maintaining quality. He has over four decades since becoming part of OSI Group, and in the late 1970s, he gained full control.
