Skout Shows Top Ten Friendliest College Towns

Skout, an app that helps to connect people, compiled data to come up with a list of the top 10 friendliest college towns in the United States. They used the data from the app, creating a study of 18-24 year olds who listed their college affiliations. The data only revealed where young college adults interacted with people through Skout the most. The top ten friendliest cities, and some were not a huge, well-known metropolitan city, are listed below:

  • Madison, Wisconsin
  • Los Angeles, California
  • New York City
  • Ann Arbor, Michigan
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • San Francisco, California
  • Boulder, Colorado
  • Phoenix, Arizona
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Dallas, Texas

Some of the findings from the data were interesting. Known as America’s college town, Boston came in #12. The friendliest college age males were in Boulder, Colorado, while Madison, Wisconsin had the most females. The most virtual gifts shared, which is something Skout is known for, is LA, higher than Boston, Chicago, Miami, and Dallas together.

This college survey revealed that Skout users found it easier to make friends in college than high school. 59% were afraid of making friends, but 72% said they made good friends within a week of being on campus. The classroom was listed the best place to make new friends, 75%, as compared to parties, 42%. Sharing a room makes for good friendship, 73% of people found their roommates to become a good friend. These friendship statistics helped those people who started college with only one friend, 37%, make new friends.

Skout is a global app that helps people meet and connect in a safe way. It is a social media site, but its aim is to help people expand their social circle in a fun way. They conduct surveys, games, and gifts to help strangers in the local areas get to know each other. This app is used in 180 countries around the world.
