The growth of OSI group started in 1955 when it was known as Otto and Sons, and it became the leading supplier of hamburgers to McDonald’s. In the 1980s the company expanded to Spain, Germany, Austria, and Taiwan and also opened two more manufacturing facilities in America. The new millennium arrived with further expansion plans by Sheldon Lavin, and he steered OSI group to open several poultry operations in different continents.
In 2001 OSI group made its first acquisition in China developing the biggest facility of poultry production globally that uses the latest technology and have high tech amenities. It also expanded to Australia acquiring a company and expanding its beef production portfolio and it later purchased more production plants in Japan, India, and Canada.

He has over four decades since becoming part of OSI Group, and in the late 1970s, he gained full control.
